Södermalms Poesifestival 2013
In September 2013, Narlan Matos was an invited participant in Södermalms Poesifestival, held at Medborgarhuset in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Swedish cultural magazine Tidningen Kulturen introduced his work to Swedish readers with a biographical essay and published Swedish translations of six poems. Although the original webpage has disappeared, the article survives through an archived copy reproduced below.

Narlan Matos är inbjuden till Södermalms Poesifestival 2013. Mot honom på SENSUS, Medborgarhuset, torsdagen den 13 september kl. 19–23. Narlan Matos, född 1975 i Itaquara, Bahia, Brasilien. Han bor och arbetar i Washington, USA. Han är en av de mest berömda av de yngre poeterna i Brasilien. Han debuterade som 21-åring med diktsamlingen *Ladies and Gentlemen: the Dawn*, och boken vann Jorge Amado Foundation Award 1997. Hans andra diktsamling *In the Campsite of the Shades* vann ett nationellt pris, "XEROX Award for Brazilian Literature", 2000. År 2002 deltog han i den internationella skrivarutbildningen *International Writing Program* vid University of Iowa som gäst hos United States Department. Hans poesi har uppmärksammats av bland andra Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Robert Creeley, Lawrence Ferlinghetti och Tomas Salamun. Narlan Matos was invited to participate in the 2013 Södermalms Poetry Festival. He was born in 1975 in Itaquara, Bahia, Brazil, and lives and works in Washington, D.C., USA. He is regarded as one of the leading poets of his generation in Brazil. At the age of twenty-one he made his literary debut with *Ladies and Gentlemen: the Dawn*, which received the Jorge Amado Foundation Award in 1997. His second poetry collection, *In the Campsite of the Shades*, received the Xerox Award for Brazilian Literature in 2000. In 2002 he participated in the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa as a guest of the United States Department of State. His poetry has been recognized by writers including **Yevgeny Yevtushenko**, **Robert Creeley**, **Lawrence Ferlinghetti**, and **Tomaž Šalamun**. His third poetry collection, *Elegy to the New World*, published by one of Brazil's leading literary publishers, has been translated into numerous languages, was selected among the outstanding poetry books of 2012, and was nominated for the prestigious Portugal Telecom International Award. He holds a doctorate from the University of Illinois and has conducted research at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign.Archive
